Lucky Dog

The LuckyDog series originally began as a potential collaboration with MADDOG. We were the party that initially approached MADDOG about the project. They agreed to explore the collaboration with us and asked us to develop prototypes.

We subsequently invested significant time, effort, and resources into the project and produced prototypes as requested. Unfortunately, the collaboration ultimately did not move forward because MADDOG decided to step away from the knife business.

Since we had already spent years developing the project, we later communicated with MADDOG regarding whether we could continue with our own folding knife design independently.

In an email dated August 10, 2022, MADDOG stated that our folding knife was “not a violation of our design, though it is inspired by our work.” They further stated that as long as we did not use their name or logo, or sell copies of their knives, it would not infringe their copyright.

Based on this understanding, we continued the project independently under our own brand and gave the series a completely separate name: LuckyDog. We do not use the MADDOG name or logo on the LuckyDog series.

We have retained the complete email correspondence documenting our communications with MADDOG and the history of this project.
